It’s here! We finally get to see actual footage from the pilot episode of Girl Meets World. After the news that a spin-off of the 90’s sitcom Boy Meets World would be coming to Disney Channel, I was excited, but a little wary. Enter some updates and confirmations, on-set interviews, plus a cast photo, and things fell into place. In the first preview of the show, Cory and Topanga’s daughter Riley attempts to sneak out the house with her bestie Maya (the equivalent of Shawn Hunter, tbh).

If I’m being honest, the show looks just the same as everything else on Disney Channel, as far as sets and cinematography go, but hopefully having the original creator, Michael Jacobs, and the original writers will bring variety to programming currently on Disney. Continue reading

Disney Channel Developing a “Boy Meets World” Sequel

Boy Meets World Logo – Michael Jacobs Productions / Touchstone Television

Oh boy (no bad pun intended). I’m not sure how to feel about this… TV Line reports that the Disney  Channel is developing Girl Meets World, a sequel to the Boy Meets World series that has generated a massive fan base (myself included) since it entered re-run status after it ended its original run in 2000. The developing sitcom will focus on Corey and Topanga’s preteen daughter. Fans of the show will recall that the high school loves got married toward the end of the series.

It could be cool, but the question is if Ben Savage (who played Corey)  and Danielle Fishel (who played Topanga) will actually return to their original roles. And of course fans will want to see Sean and Eric on the show so that opens another question. My biggest concern is the Disney Channel factor. With how homogenous their shows look, this could be a disappointing mess if it happens. Hopefully that won’t be the case, because Boy Meets World producer Michael Jacobs is on board for the sequel series.

Sexting & Hollywood… and Everyday Teens Too

Most teens don’t view sexting as a big deal. They think its nothing more than passing a flirty text message or note. The consequences of this… “trend” has been mirrored in Hollywood, particularly amongst Disney darlings Miley Cyrus, former Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon, and most controversially Vanessa Hudgens (TWICE!). Of course the pictures won’t be posted here.

I for one was surprised when pictures of Vanessa and Adrienne appeared on E! News, seeing as they played such wholesome roles on Disney Channel – most wholesome of wholesome channel. (Note the touch of sarcasm there…) At first, the Miley sexting scandal also shocked me – then she did that Vanity Fair photo shoot and was photographed with her now ex boyfriend jogging in a wet tank with a bikini top underneath (her people said they just finished “washing a car”….right). Needless to say I’m no longer phased by any suggestive pictures of “Smiley Miley” anymore…
