It’s a big weekend and a big start to the new year for Kevin Hart.
His buddy-cop comedy Ride Along, co-starring rapper-actor Ice Cube is set to be number one at the box office this weekend, and by estimates will debut with $48 million. That number makes it the biggest debut for a film released during MLK weekend. The movie itself does what it is supposed to do: make you laugh. Ice Cube as a straight man to Kevin Harts quick one-liners is entertaining enough, but there are multiple cameos that make the comedy even more enjoyable.
I, along with my friend Robert, had the opportunity to interview* the rapper-actor Cube and the producer of the film, Will Packer, a few months back when they were in town promoting a university screening of Ride Along. Cube spoke about how he got involved with the film, what it was like working with Kevin Hart, and more. Packer discussed his role on the project and what he hopes fans will get from the movie.
