A little over 2 years ago Oprah Winfrey bowed out of the daytime talk show circuit, leaving lots of room open for competition among TV personalities, networks and distributors alike. Perhaps an unexpected person stepping into the realm is Queen Latifah.
I say unexpected for those who only know Queen Latifah as a lady MC or actress. She’s always had a versatile TV personality – hosting award shows and dipping into jazz singing and musicals. Previously, Queen La had a talk show (distinctly called Queen Latifah Show) that ran for 2 seasons from 1999 to 2001, so this isn’t unfamiliar to her. At the time, she described her show as a “Dear Abby for the hip-hop generation”. Now, having waited out the Oprah-replacement wave, she has Jada Pinkett-Smith as a producer and will cover human interest stories, the usual music and celeb appearances and give her own take on pop culture. The show will tape in LA in front of a live studio audience. Who do I talk to for
an internship a job?
The Queen Latifah Show will premiere September 16th, but you can watch a sneak peek below:
