Between “Trouble With The Curve” and “House at the End of the Street”, There’s No Real Box Office Winner

Well, it’s like that sometimes.

Although we don’t get official numbers until Monday, Sunday box office numbers are looking kind of… blah. Jennifer Lawrence’s horror flick House at the End of the Street went beyond studio expectations by earning $13 million, a potentially optimistic estimate.

Justin Timberlake and Clint Eastwood’s Trouble With the Curve underperformed, taking in $12.7 million. You might think JT fans would rush to see it, but the plot beckons an older crowd, who isn’t trying to see movies opening weekend (if at the theatre at all). It’s worth noting that Justin Timberlake and Clint Eastwood’s Trouble With the Curve was shot in my college town of Athens and my hometown of Atlanta (YaY! Georgia state income!).

Jake Gyllenhaal’s cop drama End of Watch performed beyond expectations, but with the top three films so close in grosses, there’s not a real winner.
