Well I guess this years VMAs really weren’t worth watching after all. What MTV billed as a night of many firsts is partly a first for less-than-stellar ratings. Where the VMAs had over 12 million viewers last year, this year only half watched Kevin Hart host and other non-memorable moments (except for Chris Brown and Rihanna’s kiss that didn’t even happen on-screen) occur. The move from a Sunday to Thursday night time slot probably didn’t help either. And although MTV moved the air time up an hour from 9 to 8pm, there was clearly more interest in other things before the president’s DNC speech at 10:00.
Maybe next year they can plan better.
